Pittsburgh's first micro-apartments being planned

In an age of McMansions, SUVs and bulging waistlines, two local developers are looking to put the rental unit on a diet and bring the first so-called micro-apartments to the city.
Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services Inc. has an agreement to buy the eight-story former Graphic Arts building at 422 First Ave., downtown, and is considering a plan to convert it, along with a newly built addition, into 100 micro-apartments.

The State of Downtown Pittsburgh 2012

Brian Kurtz, Research & Economic Development Manager for the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, dropped by Grant Street Associates' offices this morning to discuss and elaborate on The State of Downtown Pittsburgh Report 2012 published earlier this year.  If you have not had a chance to view this report, you can download it here.

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is instrumental in bringing businesses and residents into the Golden Triangle and helping to improve the City of Pittsburgh.  Some of the services offered by the PDP include:
  • Clean & Safe Program - Keeps Downtown Pittsburgh streets free of debris & litter
  • Paris to Pittsburgh - Offers two matching grants to help property and business owners make building facade improvements and establish outdoor cafes.
  • Project Pop-Up - Invites local artists, entrepreneurs & non-profits to "pop" into Downtown Pittsburgh in select areas, for limited times

The PDP is a great advocate for making Downtown Pittsburgh a better place to live, work, eat & play.

In a press release, Nike said they will serve "football athletes 365 days a year by providing access to unique products, training and game expertise, and professional athletes".

Will this new concept come to Western Pennsylvania?  Only time will tell.

Grant Street Associates, Inc. would like to congratulate two of our outstanding brokers, Jared Imperatore & JR Yocco for successfully filling Champion Plaza in South Park.  They worked diligently to fill this 13,000 square foot retail center with quality, long-term tenants that fit the look and feel of the center.  Ownership of the center had this to say about the dynamic duo:
